Updated at 10:20 - Seems you can minimize the threat by turning on/off some of the configuration options during the install. Should not be Google's fault. Windows is the one to enhance its security measure, and users should be more aware of possible consequences leaving their own sensitive data on the computer.
Google's Web search engine has already brought up some privacy issues, as we can literally sit in front of out computers and find numerous pieces of all kinds of information about someone else. Now, it seems that Google Desktop Search has the same problem - this time, we can spy on the other users who share the same computer with us...
I read a report saying that users of Google Desktop Search should be aware, as it indexes all the files on our PC regardless of the user protections. We are allowed to browse other users' files, chat records, and IE history through the Google cache. 'This is not a bug, rather a feature,' says Marissa Mayer, Google's director of consumer Web products. 'Google Desktop Search is not intended to be used on computers that are shared with more than one person.'
